Inaya Day
INAYA began singing in church as a youngster in Brooklyn, New York, where she got her first experience performing. She attended the High School of Music and the Performing Arts in her native city, New York and went on to major in musical theater at The University of Bridgeport. The next obvious step for INAYA was to hit the stage taking various roles in Musicals in New York. She understudied STEPHANIE MILLS in "The Wiz", receiving rave reviews when she stepped into the lead as "Dorothy" in New York, St. Louis, and Washington DC.
RECORDINGS: INAYA has recorded vocals for MICHAEL JACKSON, SEAN "P-DIDDY" COMBS, MC LYTE, QUEEN LATIFAH, MONI LOVE, RANDY CRAWFORD, BOOTSIE COLLINS, and MISSY ELLIOT- to name a few. In addition, INAYA is an incredibly versatile songwriter. You can seek her out in the writers' credit sections on BOOTSIE COLLINS album "FRESH OUTTA "P" UNIVERSITY" and on RANDY CRAWFORD'S LP, "EVERY KIND OF MOOD". The songs for Ms. Crawford were chosen to be the first two singles and made the charts in the U.S. and U.K. respectively. She's currently working on "soulful house" projects with German Producer, Ralf Gum of Go-Go music and "deep house" with Mike Cruz of Tommy Boy records.
INAYA has recently marked her tenth top 10 billboard charter , penning and/or lending her voice to a number of singles like "Horny" (#1) - Mousse T, "MOVIN UP"(#2)- Mike Cruz ,LIFT IT UP (#1)-MIke Cruz, CAN'T STOP DANCIN' (#1)- Mike Cruz, KEEP PUSHIN (#2)- Boris Dlugosch, I AM THA ONE ((#1) , GLAMOUROUS LIFE (#8) - (MRTimothy) and "HOLD YOUR HEAD UP HIGH" - Boris Dlugosch(#6) to name a few. She's currently shooting upward from the #8 position on the Billboard chart with her hit U SPIN ME, Mike Cruz (tommy boy).
INAYA broke into the Australia charts via the Mr Timothy collaboration, "I AM THA 1" - a former #1 number one on the Australian ARIA club chart. This success was revisited in oz when her next single,NASTY GIRL hit the #1 Aria Club Chart, as well as debuting on the ARIA National Singles chart at #18. Inaya followed this up with additional singles "Stand By Me", "Glamorous Life" (both with Mr Timothy), and Reach Out - (ATFC) .
Right now, she looks forward to making some noise with her Sony/BMG-signed single, BREAKAWAY, and the re-release of her single, MOVIN UP', recently re-produced and signed by POSITIVA , uk.
